CHRISTMAS PRESENTS: Faithtrotters across three shores
God stirred in my heart a desire to reach those preparing to enter the workforce after completing their studies. This crucial step of faith, taken early, can prevent them from being drawn into the vacuum of career pursuits—where decisions about faith are too often postponed until life's futility becomes painfully clear.
Titled "FaithTrotters: Across Three Shores", in the soon-to-be-released book, readers will encounter a rich tapestry of lives—three Christian apologists, three businessmen, one businesswoman, and a civil engineering graduate who has journeyed across the globe to sing for Jesus.
Though these individuals are ordinary people from familiar Malaysian and Singaporean settings, each story bears the unmistakable imprint of God’s craftsmanship. Their lives reveal His unique handiwork in places and moments that readers will recognise as part of their own cultural landscape.
Professor Dr Living Lee: A retired geologist and palaeontologist, formerly a lecturer at the University of Malaya, once diplomatically challenged renowned Muslim preacher Ahmad Deedat. In a bold act of conviction, the young man publicly demonstrated his love for Jesus before an audience of 200 university students. Following the incident, Ahmad Deedat was never invited to speak in Malaysia again.
- Professor Dr Samuel Gan: Hailing from Singapore, Dr Gan is a distinguished scholar from Singapore, who is currently lecturing at a university in China. A committed biblical creationist, he is frequently invited to speak at seminars on the six-day account of God’s creation, offering scientific and theological insights that
bridge faith and reason. - Samuel Nesan: Malaysian scholar, Samuel is also a Christian apologist currently pursuing his PhD at a seminary in the United States. As the founder of Explain International, he actively engages in public discourse, having debated numerous atheists across the United States on matters of faith and reason.
- Choe Peng Sum: Bro Choe, a successful business executive from Singapore and current CEO of an international hotel chain, has left an indelible mark on the lives of those who have worked under his leadership.
His scholarship to study in the United Kingdom—graciously awarded by the Shangri-La Group—came as an unexpected blessing. Yet, in a remarkable display of divine favour, God opened the door for him, even as he competed against 400 other candidates for the same opportunity.
Known for making bold ethical decisions that often surprised his peers, Bro Choe’s principled stance ultimately proved to be the wisest course—earning his company a strong reputation and favourable standing with the central government in Beijing.
Dato' Janang Anak Bongsu: From his youth, Janang’s faith in God was nothing short of remarkable. As he entered adulthood—navigating university life and ascending the corporate ladder—he continued to trust in divine guidance. In time, God opened the door for him to become a businessman. Not merely one among many, but the founder of a thriving conglomerate in the heart of Sarawak.- Dr. Heng Kien Seng and his wife, Jackie Choong Wai Leng: Jackie was unable to conceive. Though her husband, Dr Heng, was a medical doctor, the issue
lay beyond his professional expertise. Yet, in the midst of uncertainty, God worked a miracle. Jackie's faith—though as small as a mustard seed—was placed firmly in Him who nourishes and gives life. That seed of hope flourished. In time, she gave birth to twins, followed by a son. Today, their family stands as a living testimony to God’s power to intervene in life’s most desperate moments. - Winnie Loo and Dato' Richard Teo: Winnie Loo, founder of A Cut Above, has transformed Malaysia’s hairstyling industry, elevating her salon into a premier brand through strategic and visionary branding. An internationally acclaimed hairstylist,
she and her husband, Dato’ Richard Teo, experienced a profound encounter with God—one that unfolded even as life seemed to be spiralling downward. - Geoffrey Woo: Known as the Singing Engineer, Geoffrey always sensed that his life’s path would diverge from the ordinary. After graduating with a degree in Civil Engineering from the Caulfield Institute of Technology—now Monash University’s Caulfield campus—he chose to follow his deepest passion: music. As a composer and artiste, Geoffrey has journeyed across continents, answering a higher calling that continues to inspire those around him.
